Elizabeth Thornsbury has been with Mehr Fairbanks since 2014 and became a Partner in the firm in 2022. Her legal focuses include employee benefit claims, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”) litigation, and insurance claims.
Elizabeth is originally from a town in southern West Virginia that sits on the border of Pike County in eastern Kentucky. She moved to Lexington in 2006 to attend the University of Kentucky where she graduated with a degree in Middle School Education. She enjoys returning to Eastern Kentucky to visit family and takes pride in her small town background. She has been an active member of programs that are focused on helping the youth of the country, and has served as a member of the Fayette County Citizen Foster Care Review Board. Elizabeth also devotes time to volunteer at the Fayette County Legal Help Center which assists individuals who may not be able to afford legal help.
Since joining the firm, Elizabeth has focused primarily on helping disabled employees with their employee benefits claims, such as short-term and long-term disability claims. She is passionate about helping clients who are wrongfully denied their disability benefits by insurance companies after suffering a disability and being unable to return to their employment. Filing a disability claim often means that a client’s life has been negatively impacted by their health and uncertainty regarding their financial stability at work. Elizabeth’s practice goals include wanting to develop a personal connection with each and every client, while helping them navigate their insurance claims during this difficult time in their lives. Although located in Lexington, Elizabeth practices cases throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, hiking, being outside, spending time with her loved one and family, and watching sports.

With everything to lose I laid my vulnerability in the hands of Bartley Hagerman. I cannot put into words the hard work, dedication, and compassion that I was shown. Bartley was able to help me when the odds were stacked against me. I am beyond grateful!
When my long term disability case got canceled, I didn’t know what to do or who to turn to. Luckily someone I knew recommended Mehr Fairbanks Trial Lawyers. I met up with Mr. Bartley Hagerman and not only did he take my case, he got my long term disability reinstated. He keeps you updated and works...
